DataFocus 2016 finished with great success!

For the fifth time in a row conference DataFocus was held in Sheraton hotel in Zagreb, Croatia on Tuesday, April 5th 2016. More than 200 participants from over 20 countries worldwide came to visit our conference on digital evidence that brings together not only the digital forensics investigators but also legal bodies who encounter with digital evidence in their daily work.

INsig2 director Goran Oparnica opened the conference and our host Sandra Bagaric announced first keynote speaker Mr. Stephen Mason, a barrister and Associate Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies in London who is also a member of the IT Panel of the General Council of the Bar of England and Wales from United Kingdom with lecture on “A Convention on Electronic Evidence”. Following Mr. Mason, Mrs. Olivera Balasević, CEO of "Salayka", leading production company in Southeast Europe and Mr. Saša Živanović, Head of the Cyber Crime Department at the Ministry of the Interior, both from Serbia held a presentation on “Copyrihgt protection in the film industry - new bulletproof concept”

During the conference participants could choose between 21 topics, divided into three sections: legal, investigation and technical section, each having 7 lectures. Participants who attended legal section were able to hear lecturers from Max Planck Institute in Germany, Institute of Criminology at Law Faculty in Ljubljana, University of Zagreb, Croatian Competition Agency, County Court of Velika Gorica and Basic prosecutor office for combating organized crime and corruption form Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia who presented legal aspects of collecting, processing and presenting digital evidence in criminal and administrative proceedings.
Investigation section with lecturers from National CERT Croatia, Crime Department in Ministry of Interior of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Data Science Company IN2data, company Lynx from Slovakia, College Logos Center from Bosnia and Herzegovina, company Borea and Croatian Ministry of   Interior have presented the technical aspects of finding, preserving and processing of digital evidence.

DataFocus was supported by 9 exhibitors who wanted to approach our audience with their products. The main exhibitor Croatian Telecom presented their service “Mobile devices Cloud control” at their booth. Eight exhibitors that are renowned companies from the field of digital forensics; Talino Sumuri, Amped, Belkasoft, Cellebrite, Guidance Software, Magnet Forensics, MSAB and Oxygen Forensics had an exhibition booth and presentation in technical section  in addition to where all interested participants could find out more about their products and how to utilize them in investigations.

In addition to three previously mentioned sections, participants had an opportunity to participate in a workshop held by Oxygen Forensics with the topic “Oxygen Forensic Detective: Mobile Devices and Cloud Forensics. Extract, analyze and locate vital evidence”.

Conference ended with announcement of the winners in prize contest with total prize fond over 15.000,00 euros.
