DataFocus 2018 Indonesia

For the seventh successive year and for the first time in Indonesia, INsig2 hosted conference on digital evidence, DataFocus 2018 in two Indonesian cities, Jakarta and Surabaya.

First conference took place in Indonesian capital Jakarta, in hotel Borobudur on Monday, 5th of March 2018, hosting over 300 participants.

Opening ceremony started with Croatian and Indonesian National anthems performed by Universitas Guandarma choir, followed by speeches by Universitas Guandarma Rector Prof. Dr. E.S. Margianti, Croatian Ambassador Mr. Dražen Margeta, Minister of Defense of Republic of Indonesia Mr. Ryamizard Ryacudu, INsig2 Director Mr. Goran Oparnica and International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) Lead Cybercrime Consultant Ms. Esther George.

First key note lecture titled “Great Cyber Map” was held by MSc. Muhammad Nuh Al-Azhar, Police Comissioner and Chairman of Association for Digital Forensics Indonesia (AFDI). Second key note lecture titled “Trends in Cybercrime” was held by Christopher Church, Senior Digital Forensics Specialist from INTERPOL Global Complex for Inovation from Singapore.

After key note lectures, participants could choose between three parallel tracks; investigation track, legal track and technical track with total of 16 lecturers. Investigation track hosted speakers from Indonesia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Italy and Croatia, presenting topics: “Preparing Human Resource for Digital Forensics”, “The other side of the cryptocurrency world: illegal activities, fraud and hacking”, “Cybersecurity Infrastructure of Modern Country”, “Who Governs the Internet?”,“Ransomware – The Plague of 21st century” and “Fight Against Child Sexual Abuse in Internet”.

In legal track our speakers form Pakistan, Indonesia, Philippines and United Kingdom gave lectures on “An Introduction to Cybercrime”, “Indonesia’s Experience in the Fight Against Cybercrime”, “How to Ensure that Electronic Evidence is Admissible in Court”, “The Investigation and Prosecution of Crimes Committed on the Darknet and Cryptocurrency”, “The Role of International and Regional Cooperation in the Fight against Cybercrime” and “Global Capacity Building on Cybercrime”.

DataFocus 2018 was supported by 6 exhibitors, renowned companies from the field of digital forensics; Sumuri (USA), Belkasoft (Russia), Blue Bear (Canada), INsig2 (Croatia), Magnet Forensics (Canada) and TeelTechnologies (Canada). All exhibitors had an exhibition booth where participants could see and test new products, as well as hear presentations in technical section. Lecturers in technical track included topic “Digging for the Truth: How to Solve a Digital Forensic Case with Belkasoft Evidence Center”, “Role Based Approach in Digital Forensic Education”, “Talino – Faster Way to Digital Forensics” and “Advanced Mobile Device Forensics”.    

 

Second edition took place in the second biggest Indonesian city Surabaya in Siola Convention Hall, on Thursday, 8th of March 2018, also hosting over 300 participants.

Our hosts in Surabaya were Surabaya City Government lead by Mayor Tri Rismaharini and Universitas of Narotama lead by Rector Hj. Rr. Iswachyu Dhaniarti.
